  3. Colibri iMX8X Module
  4. ====================
  5. - SoM: https://www.toradex.com/computer-on-modules/colibri-arm-family/nxp-imx-8x
  6. - Carrier board: https://www.toradex.com/products/carrier-board/colibri-evaluation-board
  7. Quick Start
  8. -----------
  9. - Build the ARM trusted firmware binary
  10. - Get scfw_tcm.bin and ahab-container.img
  11. - Build U-Boot
  12. - Load U-Boot binary using uuu
  13. - Flash U-Boot binary into the eMMC
  14. - Boot
  15. Get and Build the ARM Trusted Firmware
  16. --------------------------------------
  17. .. code-block:: bash
  18. $ git clone -b toradex_imx_5.4.70_2.3.0 http://git.toradex.com/cgit/imx-atf.git/
  19. $ make PLAT=imx8qx bl31 -C imx-atf
  20. Get scfw_tcm.bin and ahab-container.img
  21. ---------------------------------------
  22. .. code-block:: bash
  23. $ wget https://github.com/toradex/i.MX-System-Controller-Firmware/raw/master/src/scfw_export_mx8qx_b0/build_mx8qx_b0/mx8qx-colibri-scfw-tcm.bin
  24. $ wget https://www.nxp.com/lgfiles/NMG/MAD/YOCTO/imx-seco-3.8.1.bin
  25. $ sh imx-seco-3.8.1.bin --auto-accept
  26. Copy the following firmware to the U-Boot folder:
  27. .. code-block:: bash
  28. $ cp imx-atf/build/imx8qx/release/bl31.bin .
  29. $ cp imx-seco-3.8.1/firmware/seco/mx8qxc0-ahab-container.img mx8qx-ahab-container.img
  30. Build U-Boot
  31. ------------
  32. .. code-block:: bash
  33. $ make colibri-imx8x_defconfig
  34. $ make u-boot-dtb.imx
  35. Load the U-Boot Binary Using UUU
  36. --------------------------------
  37. Get the latest version of the universal update utility (uuu) aka ``mfgtools 3.0``:
  38. https://community.nxp.com/external-link.jspa?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2FNXPmicro%2Fmfgtools%2Freleases
  39. Put the module into USB recovery aka serial downloader mode, connect the USB
  40. device to your host and execute ``uuu``:
  41. .. code-block:: bash
  42. sudo ./uuu u-boot/u-boot-dtb.imx
  43. Flash the U-Boot Binary into the eMMC
  44. -------------------------------------
  45. Burn the ``u-boot-dtb.imx`` binary to the primary eMMC hardware boot area
  46. partition and boot:
  47. .. code-block:: bash
  48. load mmc 1:1 $loadaddr u-boot-dtb.imx
  49. setexpr blkcnt ${filesize} + 0x1ff && setexpr blkcnt ${blkcnt} / 0x200
  50. mmc dev 0 1
  51. mmc write ${loadaddr} 0x0 ${blkcnt}
  52. As a convenience, instead of the last three commands, one may also use the
  53. update U-Boot wrapper:
  54. .. code-block:: bash
  55. > run update_uboot
